👩🏻🎓PROBLEM: Going to grad school is dominated by White elites. I got 3 higher-Ed degrees & from HR to every single professor to the President of the University, EVERY SINGLE PERSON WAS WHITE.
👩🏼🎓Which meant severe abuse to the POC students. (Not saying all White people are abusive, just that the institution is not made for POC students to survive & thrive.) Read: “The Hidden Abuse No One Talks About In Grad School” which Dr. Kiona wrote years ago to see what we’re talking about.
👩🏾🎓Without POC in higher ed, that means LESS POC professors, LESS POC researchers, LESS POC doctors/lawyers/engineers, LESS POC data.
👩🏿🎓And who better to study us than us? Who better to create research on us than us? Who better to create solutions for our issues than us? And I would be lying if I didn’t say Higher Ed opened doors for me that were slammed in my face before.
👩🏻🎓THEREFORE GRAD SKU was launched as a solution. To upload as many POC students into the academic system so we CANT BE IGNORED.
👩🏽🎓It is a BIANNUAL FREE SEMINAR. Completely community funded! (If you’d like to be a sponsor, we need about 23 more!) where we pay POC professors to give YOU the real talk on how to get you TO & THRU Grad School.
